Umewaka workshop insights

"Detached vision"
Among the Japanese this kind of vision of experiencing, is based on Buddhist principles.

The relaxed unconscious scanning, as Schechner refers to: -a selective inattention-

Noh is the exquisitely articulated masked theater of Japan that "developed from a variety of sacred rituals and festival entertainment arts... brought to a state of refinements and maturity during the Muromachi period (1336-1568)" (Komparu 1983:XV)

This Japanese echo "making perceptible the imperceptible forces" and the "becomings and intensities" of Deleuze and Guattari, also makes clear that such approach constitute a new gaze over contemporary theater praxis.

The hybridization of the performance and the diversity of media employed... these imperceptible intensities, together with their ontological status give rise to new modes of perception and consciousness.
